HYBRID BLACK POPLAR

There are several trees which go under the name of Hybrid Black Poplar. The most common of these are Populus nigra x Populus deltoides and Populus nigra x Populus canadensis.

A very fast-growing tree, putting on up to 5-8 feet a year. It has a 40-50 foot spread. The silvery-green leaves emerge in late May and are reddish-brown at first, becoming green later.

The catkins emerge in April and turn reddish before shedding their pollen.
